- 19.08.2026RTI Mako Receives PTB ApprovalRTI Mako Receives PTB Approval and Continues Its Success Story in X-ray Dosimetry In July 2026, RTI Mako achieved PTB approval, one of the highest certification levels for an X-ray dosimeter. This represents a significant milestone in the ongoing development of the Mako platform. The PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt) in Germany is one of the world’s leading reference laboratories for X-ray dosimetry. As part of the approval process, the PTB evaluates the performance of a measuring device against the requirements of the German Measurement and Calibration Ordinance (MessEV), the Measurement and Calibration Act (MessEG), and relevant IEC standards, including IEC 61674 for dosimeters for diagnostic X-rays. Mako underwent comprehensive testing that included measurement accuracy, energy dependence, dose rate dependence, temperature and humidity effects, long-term stability, repeatability, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The entire firmware and software chain was also evaluated as part of the certification process. Mako received certification for all three application areas: R/F (radiography/fluoroscopy), mammography, and CT. Certification across this broad spectrum of applications represents a strong, independent endorsement of Mako’s performance and versatility as a comprehensive solution for quality assurance in X-ray diagnostics. The approval enables the sale of certified Mako configurations in Germany as well as in other markets where PTB approval is recognized or required. Globally, it also provides customers with an important independent reference for Mako’s measurement quality and performance. Confidence for Customers WorldwideMako represents the latest generation of X-ray QA technology from RTI. The PTB approval provides customers and distribution partners with further independent confirmation of its performance. For customers in regulated markets, the approval is an important prerequisite. For customers in other parts of the world, it provides additional assurance that Mako has been independently tested by one of the most respected metrological institutions in this field. A Tradition of Innovation in X-ray Dosimetry: RTI’s experience with PTB type approval dates back to around 1990, when the PMX-III became the first solid-state dosimeter to successfully pass PTB type approval.Since then, RTI has continuously developed new generations of X-ray measurement technology. Barracuda, Piranha, and Cobia also successfully underwent PTB approval as technology and regulatory requirements evolved. With the PTB approval now granted for Mako, the latest generation of RTI measurement technology continues this tradition. “PTB approval has been an important benchmark for RTI’s measurement technology for more than 35 years. The fact that Mako has successfully completed this demanding process is a strong endorsement of the development work that went into the product, as well as its metrological performance. It gives our customers additional assurance that Mako meets the high standards they expect from RTI.” Sören Sturesson, Product Management & Technical Manager for Calibrations, RTI Group Learn more about RTI’s certifications and approvals, as well as our commitment to the highest measurement quality. - 01.07.2026Roger Introduces AI-Based Documentation for Dental PracticesThe new feature from the Berlin-based dental software provider reduces the workload for dentists at the treatment chair, cuts down on the time spent on documentation, and supports BEMA- and GOZ-compliant service recording—all without switching systems. Berlin, July 1, 2026 – Roger, the digital software solution for dental practices, is expanding its product portfolio with “AI Documentation.” The feature converts spoken language during treatment into structured, audit-ready clinical documentation and automatically assigns the services provided to the corresponding BEMA and GOZ billing items. Practices can thus document directly at the treatment chair, without the need for simultaneous note-taking or subsequent data entry on a screen. Documentation is one of the biggest time-consuming tasks in daily practice life and, according to industry estimates, takes up several hours of dentists’ working time each week. At the same time, it is a legal obligation: Incomplete records can lead to fee reductions and reimbursement claims during efficiency audits. Against the backdrop of the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, this pressure is intensifying even further, as treatment and documentation often must be handled simultaneously by the same team—frequently at the expense of completeness. Roger’s AI documentation addresses this very issue. The dentist describes findings, medical history, and treatment in natural language; the system transcribes the content in real time, organizes it into the standard documentation sections, and suggests the corresponding billing items. The practice team reviews the suggestion and approves it. The information is then automatically transferred to the patient’s record and the services are automatically recorded. The result is consistent, complete entries, and the risk of overlooking services or entering them twice is significantly reduced. Like all Roger products, this feature can be integrated into the practice’s existing IT environment and is compatible with nearly all common practice management systems. There is no need to switch practice software or change established workflows. Roger explicitly positions itself not as a replacement, but as an intelligent layer that complements existing systems and makes them more efficient. “Documentation is mandatory, but it must not take up the time that actually belongs to the patient. With AI Documentation, we shift this work from after-hours back to the treatment chair while ensuring that no service provided is overlooked,” says Victor Charlier, CEO of Roger. “For us, it is crucial that clinical responsibility always remains with the practice team: The AI provides a suggestion, and a human gives the final approval.” The protection of patient data is central to the processing. The data is processed in accordance with the GDPR and stored on servers in Germany. In accordance with professional regulations, the ultimate clinical and legal responsibility remains with the treating dentist. “AI Documentation” will be available to all Roger customers starting July 1, 2026. Interested practices can find more information and request a no-obligation product demonstration at www.goroger.com. About Roger: Roger is a digital software layer for dental practices that integrates with existing practice management systems and automates recurring tasks—from tracking treatment plans (HKP) and communicating with patients via WhatsApp and SMS to AI-powered documentation and billing, as well as digital patient reminders. The goal is to relieve practices of administrative work and free up more time for patient care. For more information, visit goroger.com.Sanos Services GmbHRead more
- 29.05.2026BlueTip. Optimal irrigation. Even better in blue.BlueTip, the new sound-activated rinsing tip from Komet, makes root canal irrigation simple, fast, and safe. Lemgo, May 29, 2026 – In endodontics, cleaning and disinfecting the root canal system while leaving as little residue as possible is a crucial factor for treatment success. The sound-activated rinsing tip is highly effective at reducing bacteria and the tissue that serves as their breeding ground. Komet makes it easy, quick, and safe for BlueTip users to achieve better cleaning results. Optimized contrast for easier cleaning: BlueTip, the flexible rinsing tip made of polyamide, is more than just another addition to the range of perfectly coordinated, high-quality instruments offered by the medical device manufacturer based in Lemgo, Germany. Above all, the instrument’s blue color significantly increases visibility within the canal, as it contrasts clearly with the dentin. The blue color of the BlueTip makes it easier to insert the tip into the canal without bending it. During the rinsing process, it is easier to see whether the tip is oscillating freely or touching the canal walls. In addition, adhering debris or remnants of a medicated insert are more clearly visible and can be removed if necessary. This reduces blockages and makes it easier to remove residues. This is all the more important because a root canal that is as free of residues as possible supports successful obturation and contributes decisively to the long-term success of the treatment. A positive side effect is that the BlueTip is easy to spot on the tray and is always within reach. Save time with “sonic speed”—the BlueTip can be conveniently inserted into a standard sonic handpiece and activates the rinsing solution in the root canal. The solution activated in this way requires a shorter reaction time to take effect, thus saving dentists valuable time. At the same time, cleaning performance is enhanced. Bacteria, tissue, and the smear layer are effectively reduced. BlueTip precisely follows the course of the canal—flexible and delicate, BlueTip is made of polyamide to ensure optimal protection of natural tooth structure. Made of flexible synthetic material, the delicate tip precisely follows the course of the canal. This makes it noticeably easier for dentists to minimize the risk of unwanted tooth structure removal. In this way, BlueTip helps you preserve the desired state of the canal anatomy. According to users, the fine polyamide tip fits into almost any canal. Another convenience: there is only one size to suit any application, and thanks to sterile single-use packaging, there is no need for documentation. This makes integration into everyday practice—and beyond—extremely easy. BlueTip complements Komet’s endodontic portfolio, ensuring that the complete range of instruments for root canal treatment is now perfectly coordinated and available in the high quality you have come to expect from Komet.Komet Dental | Gebr. - 19.03.2026Protection Starts with Comfort—Why Fit Is CrucialProtection Starts with Comfort Protection doesn’t end with a glove’s performance alone—it begins with how it feels. Because a glove can only reach its full potential in everyday work if it fits properly and is comfortable to wear. A good fit ensures that movements remain natural and the hand doesn’t tire unnecessarily. At the same time, it builds confidence in the protection the glove provides. The result: more efficient work and greater safety in every application. Why Fit and Comfort Are Crucial Our hands perform strenuous work every day. This makes it all the more important to protect them optimally without restricting freedom of movement. Gloves that feel like a second skin support precise work and increase user acceptance. The combination of a precise fit, high-quality materials, and durable construction ensures that gloves not only protect but also actively support you while you work. Protection in Everyday Life Hand injuries are among the most common workplace accidents. The right gloves can help provide effective protection against cuts, chemicals, contamination, and extreme temperatures. The key is this: The best gloves work with your hands—not against them. Quality That Makes the Difference Three factors are crucial: • Precise fit • High-quality materials • High durability These characteristics ensure a comfortable fit, reliable protection, and long-term use in everyday work. Protect your hands. Protect your work. Because only when you can rely on your protective equipment can you fully concentrate on your tasks.Unigloves Arzt- u. - 25.08.2026Endo Update 2026: What Modern Endodontics Really Needs to Decide TodayOn November 13, 2026, the Dr. B.-Digitec Academy will host a professional continuing education seminar on modern endodontics at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Cologne, featuring Prof. Dr. Michael A. Baumann from Cologne. The seminar will focus on current issues in endodontics as well as the central role of disinfection. Endo Update 2026 is aimed at dentists who wish to gain a professional understanding of their endodontic procedures, update their knowledge, and further develop their skills in a practice-oriented manner. Participation costs 149 euros; 6 continuing education credits will be awarded for the event. Endo Update 2026: What Modern Endodontics Really Needs to Address Today On November 13, 2026, the Dr. B.-Digitec Academy will host a professional continuing education course on modern endodontics. The speaker is Prof. Dr. Michael A. Baumann from Cologne. The event will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Cologne on Dürener Straße. Participants will receive 6 continuing education credits. The flat-rate admission fee is 149 euros per person. The focus will be on questions that are highly relevant to everyday practice: Which preparation methods make sense today? Why does disinfection remain one of the key factors for success in root canal treatment? In a nutshell: The Endo Update 2026 is aimed at dentists who wish to gain a professional understanding of and update their endodontic procedures. The continuing education program brings together current concepts in root canal preparation, disinfection, and clinical decision-making in a practical context. In addition to the professional program, the event also offers opportunities for personal exchange with a welcome coffee break, a flying buffet, and a closing get-together. It’s the disinfection, stupid! A second focus deliberately sums up the issue in a pointed way: It’s the disinfection, stupid! After all, the file system alone does not determine the success of endodontic treatment. What matters most is whether the root canal system is sufficiently cleaned and disinfected. Mechanical instruments cannot reach all areas of the canal system. Lateral canals, isthmuses, dentinal tubules, and complex anatomical structures remain only partially accessible. That is why disinfection is not a secondary step, but a central component of modern endodontics. The focus therefore includes, among other things: appropriate irrigation protocols; contact time, volume, and activation; typical sources of error; disinfection concepts suitable for everyday use; and safe procedures for the practice. Prof. Dr. Michael A. Baumann as a speaker. This combination is particularly important for an Endo Update. New systems and techniques must not only be known but also properly contextualized: What makes sense? What depends on the indication? What truly improves the workflow?Topics at a GlanceThe following topics will be the focus of Endo Update 2026: current issues in modern endodontics; root canal preparation and disinfection; effective irrigation protocols; contact time, volume, and activation; clinical decision-making; safe procedures in daily practice; classification of new and proven concepts; typical sources of error and how to avoid them. - 19.08.2026Continuing the Tradition of Excellence in X-Ray DosimetryIn July 2026, RTI Mako received one of the highest certification levels for an X-ray dosimeter with PTB approval, marking an important milestone in the ongoing development of the Mako platform. The PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt) in Germany is one of the world’s leading reference laboratories for X-ray dosimetry. As part of the approval process, the PTB evaluates a device’s performance against the requirements of the German Measurement and Calibration Ordinance (MessEV), the German Measurement Act (MessEG), and relevant IEC standards, including IEC 61674 for diagnostic X-ray dosimeters. Mako underwent comprehensive testing that included measurement accuracy, energy dependence, dose rate dependence, the influence of temperature and humidity, long-term stability, repeatability, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). As part of the certification process, the entire firmware and software chain was also evaluated. Mako received certification for all three application areas: R/F (radiography/fluoroscopy), mammography, and CT applications. Certification for this broad range of applications represents strong, independent validation of Mako’s performance and versatility as a comprehensive X-ray quality assurance solution. The approval enables the sale of certified Mako configurations in Germany and other markets where PTB approval is recognized or required. Globally, it also provides customers with an important independent reference for Mako’s measurement quality and performance. Trust for Customers Worldwide: Mako represents the latest generation of X-ray quality assurance technology from RTI, and the PTB approval offers customers and distributors another independent reference for the system’s performance. For customers in regulated markets, the approval is an important prerequisite. For customers in other parts of the world, it provides additional confidence, as Mako has been independently evaluated by one of the most respected metrology institutions in this field. A Tradition of Innovation in X-ray Dosimetry RTI’s experience with PTB type testing dates back to around 1990, when the PMX-III became the first solid-state dosimeter to pass PTB type testing.Since then, RTI has continuously developed new generations of X-ray measurement technology, with the Barracuda, Piranha, and Cobia all successfully obtaining PTB approval as technology and regulatory requirements evolved. With the recent PTB approval for Mako, the latest generation of RTI measurement technology continues this tradition. “PTB approval has been an important benchmark for RTI measurement technology for more than 35 years. The fact that Mako has successfully completed this demanding process is a clear endorsement of the work behind the product as well as its measurement performance. This gives our customers additional confidence that Mako meets the high standards they expect from RTI.” Sören Sturesson, Product Management & Technical Director of Calibrations, RTI Group. - 19.03.2026EUDR Update: Unigloves Is Well PreparedEU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) – What Does This Mean for You? The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), adopted in 2023, is an important step toward combating climate change and protecting biodiversity. The goal of the regulation is to ensure that certain products sold in the EU do not originate from deforested areas and are fully traceable back to their source. Following a recent vote in the European Parliament, the implementation of the regulation has been temporarily postponed. For it to finally enter into force, the text must still be formally adopted by the Council and published in the Official Journal of the European Union. This step is considered largely a formality and is expected to take place by the end of 2025. The postponement gives companies additional time to prepare and enables a structured transition. EUDR at Unigloves – Well Prepared for the Future As a major supplier, Unigloves will fully comply with the EUDR’s requirements as of December 30, 2026. The current postponement has no impact on our strategic direction—we have been actively working on implementation for some time now. The regulation’s requirements are being consistently integrated into our procurement, traceability, and compliance processes. This ensures that all relevant products will comply with future legal requirements. For you, this means you can continue to rely on Unigloves products with confidence. Which products are affected? The EUDR applies to products that contain or are made from raw materials such as natural rubber, soy, palm oil, wood, coffee, cocoa, or beef. In the PPE industry, this particularly affects natural rubber and latex gloves, as well as certain packaging materials. Our Approach to Implementation Unigloves takes a proactive and sustainable approach to compliance with the EUDR: • Full traceability of raw materials—from the plantation to the finished product • Sourcing materials that are deforestation-free and legally compliant • Providing due diligence statements for affected products • Conducting regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance Many of these measures are already an integral part of our processes. In addition, we are committed to other sustainability initiatives, such as reducing plastic packaging and using certified, sustainable materials. Sustainability with a Vision Our natural rubber and latex gloves are made from renewable raw materials, are biodegradable, and are being further developed to meet the requirements of the EUDR well in advance of the deadline. Questions about the EUDR? If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the implications of the regulation, we are always happy to assist you. - 13.10.2026Sintering in a Microwave Oven - Parameters & OptimizationSintering is a crucial step in the manufacture of dental restorations made of zirconia. As part of the ongoing development of our sintering processes, we have therefore tested various programs in the microwave furnace—with the goal of further optimizing the process in terms of cycle time and energy consumption. Targeted Further Development of Sintering ProcessesTo determine suitable parameters, various programs were tested in the microwave furnace and evaluated for their efficiency and the quality of the results. The focus was on three aspects: the shortest possible process duration, low energy consumption, and a reliable, aesthetically high-quality restoration. Aesthetics Comparable to Standard SinteringIn addition to process optimization, the quality of the sintering results was, of course, also a key focus. The program tested in the microwave furnace achieved aesthetics comparable to those of standard sintering. This experiment thus demonstrates that aesthetically high-quality results can be achieved even with an optimized microwave sintering process.Pritidenta GmbHRead more

- 17.03.2026Komet’s new amalgam remover H4A: Less mercury vapor. More safety.Lemgo, January 5, 2026 – The H4A, Komet’s new amalgam remover, makes the removal of amalgam safe, simple, and efficient. The H4A, Komet’s new amalgam remover, makes the removal of amalgam safe, simple, and efficient. Whether due to age, damage, caries, or for cosmetic reasons—the removal of amalgam fillings is a routine procedure in any dental practice. In addition to achieving a successful restoration while preserving as much of the natural tooth as possible, protecting the patient and the dental team from potentially toxic mercury vapors is an absolute priority when it comes to removing amalgam fillings. While amalgam could already be removed quickly and safely with Komet’s previous amalgam remover, the H32, Komet is now introducing its successor, the H4A, which makes treatments particularly safe, simple, and efficient for users: Specially developed in Lemgo for this very application, this instrument significantly reduces mercury vapor emissions by 40%* compared to its predecessor. H4A – Sharper equals faster equals safer. With the H4A amalgam remover, the Lemgo-based dental specialist is not only launching a successor to the tried-and-tested H32. The new and improved amalgam remover from Komet enhances user safety by reducing the risk of mercury vapor formation by more than a third*. The new amalgam remover owes its significantly higher efficiency to the greater sharpness and optimized geometry of its blades: the new tooth design enables easy, precise penetration into the filling material and a high rate of material removal while demonstrably reducing the formation of mercury vapors. Shorter treatment times and a gentle procedure for amalgam removal. The new amalgam remover, featuring Komet’s renowned and proven quality, can noticeably shorten treatment times thanks to its ability to remove old fillings in a very short time. The difference may seem small when looking at each individual treatment, but the time saved adds up to a significant economic benefit at the end of a typical day in the practice. The sharp blade offers another advantage for patients: the remaining natural tooth structure can be optimally protected thanks to the outstanding sharpness, which ensures precision. All in all, Komet’s H4A is a state-of-the-art amalgam remover that further enhances an already excellent instrument thanks to its new and improved geometry. Further improving what’s already good: H4A. The constant drive to further refine already outstanding solutions to meet individual customer needs is deeply rooted in Komet’s DNA. Driven by the needs of its customers, Gebr. Brasseler GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Lemgo, has been distributing one of the world’s most extensive product lines under the Komet Dental brand since 1923. Over 25,000 items—ranging from rotary dental instruments to complete systems—are already available through sales companies and partners in approximately 100 countries worldwide. The comprehensive range includes sophisticated standard instruments and innovative solutions that set industry-wide standards in dental practices and laboratories. The program, featuring high-profile speakers and presenters from the fields of dentistry, commerce, and industry, was varied and engaging. After a brief welcome by Stefan Kaltenbach, Prof. Dr. Christoph Benz, President of the German Dental Association, delivered the opening address via video, followed by Jochen Linneweh (President of the Federal Association of Dental Trade). Dr. Markus Heibach then conveyed greetings from the VDDI. This was followed by presentations on the latest developments in the field of radiology, ranging from MRI/Dental (Prof. Dr. Ralf Schultze) to digital workflow/IO-Scan (Dr. Ingo Baresel) and AI in dentistry (Prof. Dr. Falk Schwendicke). Josef Schweiger, M.Sc. in dental technology, impressed the audience with excellent results using the Perfit FS fully sintered zirconia with the EASY Mill4 in chairside applications. Prof. Dr. Nicole Arweiler reported on the latest findings in periodontology. Prof. Dr. Reinhard Hickel kicked off the afternoon with his summary of experiences regarding modern concepts in dental continuing education. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Becker reported on his successes in digital implant planning. Prof. Dr. Margit-Ann Geibel described mobile radiology in Germany, after which Dr. Vapula Haukongo presented his concept for this very same mobile dental radiology unit in a dental practice. Dr. Thomas Fischer presented practical Freecorder cases in which he no longer required any grinding. Dr. Peter Bongard presented key factors for full-mouth reconstructions, including the new method for determining occlusal relationships using the Cranioplan method. Master Dental Technician Vanik Kaufmann presented the most effective data management software for use between the dental practice and the laboratory. In between, there were interesting short presentations by orangedental employees on the company’s in-house products, particularly the Magnetflex camera for the opt-on® loupe glasses—set to be released at the IDS—as well as the world’s first head-mounted stereomicroscope with panoramic view. Also featured were the new Vatech devices: the S21, the first spiral CT; the Green X 21 with Facescan; and the new IO sensor based on photon counting. The stationary face scanner from Fussen, currently in the beta testing phase, rounded out the many innovations in the orangedental portfolio. To refuel, guests from dental practices, the dental trade, and local institutions enjoyed an extensive lunch buffet in a lively atmosphere. They were impressed by the new facilities, which feature mobile partitions that allow for interactive training sessions in seven rooms—ideal, for example, for hands-on circuit training. In the future, the new o|cademy Education Center will be used for events and workshops for dental practices as well as for continuing education for the sales and technical staff of specialty retail partners, complementing the many digital communication tools, such as the more than 45 webinars held since 2020. In the evening, the big orangedental party began in the marquee set up specifically for the occasion. After Stefan Kaltenbach opened the buffet, guests were able to enjoy the food and the ample selection of beverages. The all-female band Sax & Strings and the well-known band Papa’z Finest from Cologne provided great entertainment. As a highlight, 10 hostesses presented the orangedental products on a catwalk—some in person and others via corresponding images—to great applause. Denken Sie beispielsweise an Ihren ersten Schultag zurück. Die Aufregung, neue Menschen und fremde Gesichter – Lächeln mit Kreidezähnen? Eigentlich undenkbar. 16.03.2026Komet Dental Wins the 2025 Red Dot Design Award for EnDriveLemgo, September 16, 2025 – With the EnDrive, Komet Dental once again demonstrates its innovative strength: the newly developed endodontic motor has been honored with the Red Dot Design Award 2025. With this award, the international jury recognized a design that is consistently tailored to the needs of modern dental practices. “EnDrive is an efficient solution for endodontic treatments that cleverly combines intuitive operation, ergonomic design, and cost-effectiveness,” the jury explained in its statement. From requirement to solution—the path leading to EnDrive For decades, Komet Dental has followed a clear course: innovations are developed in close collaboration with dentists and universities. In 2022, the “New Endo Motor” project was launched, and in just two and a half years, the EnDrive was developed. The new drive unit is consistently geared toward the needs of users. Unobstructed work without annoying cables, a touchscreen display, visual feedback via an LED ring, and intuitive controls create space for focused and precise work—regardless of available space or treatment habits. Komet Dental as a Driver of Innovation Komet Dental has already received awards for its developments in the past and was named a TOP 100 Innovator in 2022. The jury was impressed by innovations in the rotary instrument sector, such as SHAX and DIAO, as well as Dentything, the first digital inventory management system for dental practices and dental laboratories that automatically reorders missing products. This is the result of modern innovation processes and a clear customer focus. “The number of root canal treatments is increasing worldwide. As one of the world’s leading and most innovative manufacturers in this field, our goal is to actively shape future developments. With EnDrive, we wanted to do more than just develop a new motor. We created a solution that is perfectly matched to our files and materials and offers dentists genuine safety and freedom in their daily work. In close cooperation with our partners and universities, we develop products and services that improve the quality of treatments,” emphasizes Carsten Cieslik, Head of the Komet Dental Business Unit. In addition to innovative individual products such as the EnDrive, Komet Dental stands out because the company offers a comprehensive range of products for endodontic treatments: from access cavities to glide path creation and mechanical preparation to obturation, retreatment, and post-endo solutions. Dentists thus receive everything from a single source—perfectly coordinated. Customers also benefit from the close support we provide: Komet sells its systems directly through its sales force and employs specialist endodontic consultants who provide targeted, individualized support to dental practices. This service is complemented by the Komet Academy, which offers practice-oriented training through a wide range of courses and workshops, both online and on-site. Looking Ahead: Digital Dentistry and New Technologies The Red Dot Design Award we received for the EnDrive confirms that Komet Dental is on the right track for the future. As a third-generation family business with all development and production processes taking place in Germany, Brasseler stands for quality, reliability, and long-term thinking. The company’s stability is the foundation that enables us to boldly break new ground, stay attuned to our customers’ needs, and turn creative ideas into successful innovations. Komet Dental continues to invest specifically in new technologies to make endodontics even safer, more efficient, and more patient-friendly. This ensures that Komet remains a reliable partner for dentists worldwide and actively shapes the next generation of dental care.Komet Dental | Gebr. Brasseler GmbH & Co. KGRead more - 13.11.2025Color Control Through the Sintering Process—A New Method at pritidenta®Dental technicians who demand the highest standards of aesthetics and precision know that standard solutions quickly reach their limits when it comes to color matching for zirconia. Those seeking more shades, design options, and control will now find an innovative solution at pritidenta. The company specializes in the development of high-quality zirconia products, such as priti®multidisc ZrO2, in various levels of translucency. Two alternative sintering programs have been developed that allow the color appearance of restorations to be specifically varied—without compromising the safety or material properties of the zirconia.Color Control via the Sintering ProcessThe preset color of zirconia can be controlled within defined limits. The key factor in pritidenta’s sintering processes is the amount of heat applied during sintering:Higher heat input → lighter, more subtle color; lightness value (L*) increases; red (a*) and yellow (b*) components decrease. Lower heat input → more intense, warmer color; lightness (L*) is slightly reduced; red (a*) component increases. Thus, the sintering process opens up new possibilities for aesthetic fine-tuning. The programs were successfully tested by pritidenta application technicians on 1- to 14-unit zirconia restorations. Note: For precise results, sintering should be performed exclusively in calibrated furnaces. A final temperature measurement using PTC rings (MTH) from pritidenta is recommended.Tips for Dental Technicians: The color effect is more pronounced in bridges and larger restorations. PTC rings (MTH) allow for reliable monitoring of the actual heat input. Differences can be clearly documented using bridge samples under various cycles as well as two Vita shade guides (light & chromatic). Advantages at a Glance ✅ Expanded color spectrum – lighter & more subtle or more intense & warmer, depending on individual requirements✅Proven safety – no impairment of flexural strength, hardness, or biocompatibility with priti®multidisc ZrO₂✅Reliable process – tested on 1- to 14-unit restorations, safe in calibrated furnacesPritidenta GmbHRead more

17.05.2025QuickmatFIT, an anatomically shaped matrix for precise, natural contoursAchieving proper contacts in Class II cavities is the most challenging clinically relevant aspect for clinicians.A clinical study reports that 2.9% of failures in direct restorations are attributable to an unsatisfactory contact point or margin.1 Problems resulting from an inadequate contact surface include displacement, lifting forces, food impaction, difficulty flossing, reduced effectiveness of toothbrushing, and increased plaque accumulation. This leads to periodontal damage characterized by pain, inflammation, and bleeding.2,3 Restoring the anatomy of the missing tooth is important not only to replace the missing structures but also to restore ideal form and function.Selecting a matrix capable of mimicking or reproducing the tooth’s original morphology and curvature is the first step toward a successful aesthetic and functional restoration. Sectional matrices are typically used in combination with a separator ring, which separates the teeth and stabilizes the matrix coronally, thereby facilitating the formation of a contact surface.4,5By engaging the interproximal recesses and applying force to the remaining tooth structure, these systems efficiently increase contact tightness compared to standard matrices or circumferential matrix systems.4,5A restoration with the correct anatomical shape also reduces the need for rotary instruments required for contouring and finishing, thereby saving valuable time for both the dentist and the patient. QuickmatFIT by Polydentia are the new anatomically enhanced stainless steel matrices with a thickness of 0.04 mm, available in three anatomical shapes to cover all types of Class II posterior restorations. QuickmatFIT matrices are particularly indicated for wide interproximal spaces and large cavities. Thanks to their placement tabs, QuickmatFIT matrices are easy to handle and feature a rolled occlusal edge for easy marginal preparation. The accentuated curvature of the matrix fits snugly against the tooth, ensuring an improved fit and stability*, which makes it easier to achieve the correct restoration anatomy. Advantages:- Improved natural curvature: 3D-contoured matrices ensure anatomically correct restorations- Easy handling: The placement tabs (occlusal/buccal/lingual) allow for easier and faster insertion and removal of the matrices (the tip is easy to grasp with tweezers for correct positioning)- Time-saving solution: anatomically precise restorations reduce the time required for shaping and finishing- Three matrix shapes (premolar, molar, and deep molar)—thin, rigid, yet burnable—deep molar version for effective cervical margin seal With the introduction of QuickmatFIT, clinicians can now choose the Polydentia matrix that best meets their requirements in terms of height, thickness, concavity, and distance to the adjacent tooth. Using an anatomically enhanced QuickmatFIT sectional matrix in combination with a sectional matrix ring (myQuickmat Forte Ring with myTines extensions) and interdental wedges (myWedge V-shaped plastic wedges) as part of a complete sectional matrix system ensures the successful restoration of Class II cavities with natural tooth anatomy. 18.02.2025Developmental Enamel Opacities: A New, Validated Treatment ApproachFluorosis, MIH, amelogenesis imperfecta, and trauma-induced enamel opacities affect countless people worldwide. Patients suffer from aesthetic impairments and tooth hypersensitivity. This can lead to social exclusion, bullying, functional complaints, and pain. Nevertheless, there have been few adequate treatment options to date for this group of patients, most of whom are young. DMG presents a validated, minimally invasive treatment concept combining bleaching, infiltration, and 3D printing technology. Infiltration with Icon: A Game-Changer for Patients with Developmental Enamel Opacities The minimally invasive infiltration procedure using Icon Vestibular offers an effective and gentle solution for conditions such as MIH on anterior teeth. The treated area blends seamlessly with the healthy enamel. Infiltration in cases of MIH preserves healthy tooth structure—a crucial advantage in the treatment of young patients. It also gently improves the aesthetic appearance. Infiltration Plus Bleaching for an Optimal Overall Result To achieve a harmonious overall result, it is necessary to prepare the teeth for the subsequent infiltration. This pretreatment of developmental enamel opacities conditions the protein-rich lesions, thereby optimally preparing them for infiltration therapy. With DMG’s Flairesse Bleaching Gel, a medical device is now available that, thanks to its low concentrations of CP 5% and CP 10%, enables precisely this type of gentle preparation. Medical bleaching gel, custom-fit 3D bleaching tray: The new Flairesse Bleaching Gel was developed specifically for the medical, preparatory treatment of developmental enamel defects and can also be used on young patients. It thus fills a critical gap in care. Another valuable component of the treatment is the 3D-printed DentaMile bleaching tray. Its key advantages are the precise reservoirs, which can be adapted to the individual patient’s situation, and the excellent marginal seal. This ensures efficient bleaching and reliably protects the gums.At the DMG booth in Hall 10.1, interested visitors can see for themselves the new possibilities offered by MIH treatment. - 16.03.2026Endo has many requirements. Here is the solution: EnDrive.Lemgo, January 13, 2025 – State-of-the-art motor. Developed to meet customer requirements. EnDrive, Komet’s latest endodontic motor with an integrated apex locator and cordless handpiece, is designed to meet the individual requirements and preferences of dentists and endodontic specialists, making their practice more cost-effective, simpler, and safer. Tedious manual preparation, reluctance to change habits or invest in future-proof technology, cumbersome software updates, restrictions caused by cables getting in the way or expiring battery life, as well as inaccurate or delayed apex measurements—endodontic treatments present users with a variety of personal challenges. A solution for individual needs: “Endo has many requirements. ‘Here is the solution’ is the promise Komet makes to its customers with the latest EnDrive endo motor. The motor, consisting of a compact main unit and a magnetically clip-on handpiece, makes endodontic treatments economical, simple, and safe. It has been available in Germany since January. Dentists know how important it is in daily practice to provide smooth treatments while ensuring that the processes involved are as safe as possible. Treatment efficiency—and thus practice capacity utilization—can be increased, and costly interruptions and downtime can be avoided if the tool performs exactly as intended for the user. This is where the EnDrive truly shines, meeting customers’ requirements and expectations. Cost-effective thanks to efficient treatment processes The new option for convenient software updates via Wi-Fi saves resources, time, and effort. The easy-to-use, clearly laid-out 7-inch color touchscreen display shows all values and controls at a glance, allowing users to focus on the patient rather than the technology. With a maximum battery charging time of 1.5 to 2.5 hours, the EnDrive is always ready for use—and if you’ve forgotten to charge it, the main unit and handpiece can also be charged during treatment. The integrated calibration function ensures that the EnDrive’s contra-angle handpiece operates optimally and that the set torque is transmitted precisely. There is no need for an additional silicone cover because the contra-angle handpiece is insulated. This conveniently prevents potential measurement errors in the event of accidental contact inside the oral cavity—for greater efficiency and fewer treatment breaks and interruptions. Plug-and-play, convenience, and intuitive operation The EnDrive was developed so that users can stick to their usual workflow. The comprehensive file library includes nearly all known endo files, along with their presets, regardless of whether they are rotary or reciprocating and whether they come from Komet’s extensive portfolio or from other manufacturers. Users can not only continue to use their favorite files; the EnDrive also remembers them and makes them available as preferred options. Operation is intuitive and requires little training—“plug and play,” so to speak. The battery-powered handpiece also eliminates the need to pull and tug at cables. Thanks to its ergonomic design, the handpiece is ideal for both left- and right-handed users. It is suitable for delicate work and enables maximum mobility. Its compact size and light weight allow the device to be transported quickly and used on the tray. The main unit can be used in both vertical and horizontal orientations, which is a great advantage, as it can be positioned flexibly according to preference and the available space. Simply safe: Simplicity without compromising safety. This includes, for example, the very small contra-angle head, which can be rotated 360° at any time to suit your preference. It guarantees the best possible view of the working area. For the first time, a handpiece from Komet can be attached to the motor using a magnetic mechanism. This not only simplifies quick one-handed transport to the next room but also allows the handpiece to be set down quickly and safely, while reducing the risk of contamination. Before the maximum torque is reached, the new LED ring on the handpiece alerts the user, thereby reducing the risk of file fracture. The EnDrive’s auto-stop and auto-reverse functions also minimize the risk of file fracture and, consequently, treatment delays. The highly precise apex localization helps users perform the preparation exactly at the right time and in the right place. This reduces the risk of over-preparation. The patented system takes measurements with the utmost precision and in real time while treatment continues. Thanks to the included file clamp, this also works in conjunction with manual files. Driven by customer needs With its wide range of established and new features, the EnDrive lives up to its promise to deliver the best solution for individual customer requirements—a promise that is deeply rooted in Komet’s DNA.Komet Dental | Gebr. 21.11.2024Bionic Hair & evo Family. Setting new standards in all-ceramic restorationsFor several months now, our new evo brushes featuring Bionic-Hair have been impressing dental technicians worldwide. What’s behind this revolutionary brush hair, why did we at Renfert embark on this development journey, and how are we now setting new standards with Bionic-Hair? We spoke with Cim Özyurt (Product Manager) about this. For more than four decades, Renfert has been developing high-quality dental brushes for ceramic layering. The introduction of Bionic-Hair is another milestone born out of our pursuit of improved materials and technologies. The newly developed fiber material is based on our many years of experience in brush technology and is the result of intensive research and development. “High-quality natural-hair brushes are ideally suited for the dental field due to their characteristics. The combination of fineness, durability, and moisture management—thanks to the scaly hair surface—makes them superior to previous alternatives. However, quality is subject to increasingly significant fluctuations, and the availability of the raw material is declining.” Bionic-Hair combines the positive properties of natural and synthetic hair brushes while overcoming their disadvantages. The material is characterized by exceptional elasticity and remarkable durability, showing no fraying or kinking even with intensive use. These properties make Bionic-Hair particularly suitable for precise and demanding dental applications, such as layering ceramic. “Another key aspect in the development of Bionic-Hair was the responsible use of resources and animal welfare,” says Cim Özyurt.Renfert has created a material that not only impresses with its performance but also reflects a commitment to the environment and animal welfare. Bionic-Hair eliminates the risk of import bans and fluctuating quality associated with natural hair, thereby contributing to a more reliable and ethical supply chain.“With Bionic-Hair, we offer more than just an alternative—Bionic-Hair is the solution.” Currently, three of our brush models are available with Bionic-Hair: our “evo” edition from lay:art evo, Genius evo, and Kolinsky evo.In an in-depth interview (published in dental dialogue, 05/2024), Cim Özyurt, Product Manager at Renfert, provides insights into the challenges and successes associated with the development of Bionic-Hair. He emphasizes the importance of effective moisture management and elasticity, which distinguish Bionic-Hair. These factors are crucial for ensuring the performance and precision that dental technicians expect from their tools. “Thanks to the composition of differently treated fiber filaments, Bionic-Hair absorbs moisture similarly to natural hair. This allows us to replicate the characteristic flame-shaped brush tip. In addition, we have developed a process that allows us to selectively place fine hairs in the brush tip. This increases the hair density in this area. The result is a sturdier tip and high flexibility—even under heavy use.” Layering with Bionic-Hair offers significant advantages. Brushes with Bionic-Hair adapt to the individual techniques and movement patterns of ceramic artists, leading to improved handling and better results. The molecular structure of Bionic-Hair enables consistent quality and performance that cannot be achieved with conventional materials. “Effective moisture management in a brush is always a key factor. Furthermore, precision is crucial when layering ceramic. The brush requires high elasticity to process both small and large amounts of ceramic material in a controlled manner.” Bionic-Hair is more than just an alternative to existing products—it is a forward-looking solution that revolutionizes everyday work with ceramics. With Bionic-Hair, Renfert continues its tradition of innovation and offers dental laboratories a tool that is not only technically superior but also tailored to their needs.Renfert GmbHRead more - 16.10.2026DentistryIQ: Smart Feedback Systems in Preventive DentistryOn September 17, 2025, DentistryIQ published the article “Smart Feedback Systems in Preventive Dentistry” by Nina Garlo-Melkas. 16.04.2025Laser Technology at Dentaurum – 30 Years of ProgressDentaurum was not only the first company in the world to introduce laser technology on a broad scale in dental technology, but has also established its market-leading position through an extremely sophisticated product line, above-average service, and extensive consulting expertise. In the IDS year 2025, the medical device manufacturer boasts an impressive 30 years of experience in the field of laser technology. The laser has become an unbeatably useful tool for joining materials in both dental technology and orthodontics. It enables the creation of completely biocompatible bonds without the use of solder. The cost-effectiveness stems from enormous time savings. A Successful Market Entry Thirty years ago, Dentaurum successfully entered the field of laser technology. The advantage of dental laser technology, in contrast to the soldering technique that had been primarily used up to that point, lay in the fusion of materials of the same type. While soldering always requires the use of a less noble alloy as solder, dental welding joins metals and alloys of the same type. The result is stronger bonds that exhibit increased corrosion resistance. This is a decisive advantage, particularly with pure titanium, but also with all other dental alloys. The first laser, which Dentaurum marketed under the name DL 2000, was presented to interested professionals at the dentechnica trade show in Nuremberg in 1993. Its ease of use, comfortable seating position, and a well-thought-out, elegant design were additional factors that helped the DL 2000 achieve a successful market launch. Continuous development for high customer satisfaction The successor models—the DL 2002, DL 2002 SF / SFS Desktop, and DL 3000—also enjoyed great popularity. In 2004, the first generation of the desktop Compact Laser was launched. This laser, with its compact size yet powerful performance, was already an important part of Dentaurum’s product portfolio at that time and remains so today. The desktop unit, which covers all areas of dental technology and orthodontic applications—from the finest welding to secure joining—recently received another technical update. Precise power control significantly simplifies the work. Such compact dimensions were previously unattainable for lasers in this power range. Thanks to its ergonomic design (large working chamber with tiltable laser axis), the laser facilitates fatigue-free work and guarantees easy operation and clarity via the touchscreen. The device features a high power reserve, a high-quality microscope with a wide field of view, an integrated suction system, and a cooling air nozzle. The integrated pulse shaping function includes 4 preset pulse shapes. The wide range of pulse parameter settings can be easily adjusted using joysticks. Also integrated are 2 shielding gas nozzles: 1 flexible and 1 fixed with tilt capability. The Laser Welder SL10 from Siro Lasertec expands the current laser portfolio with another product at an attractive entry-level price. The welding performance of the Laser Welder SL10 is optimized for dental applications and is particularly well-suited for orthodontics. As a result, the device is also ideal for smaller dental laboratories and orthodontic practices. A color camera transmits the welding process directly to the display. At the IDS, ZT Hector Alvarez Lorenzo will give a presentation on Thursday and Saturday at the Dentaurum booth D010/E019 in Hall 10.1 on laser welding in prosthetics and orthodontics. Those interested can find further details at www.dentaurum.de/lp/deu/ids-2025.aspx. More than 30 years ago, the company expanded its portfolio to include dental ceramics. Since then, an international team of experts in France and Germany has been developing innovative dental ceramic products and production technologies. Dentaurum Ceramics is one of the few companies worldwide with specialized expertise in the development and manufacture of dental ceramics. With over 30 years of experience in vitreous ceramic powders and pastes, the company has developed groundbreaking technologies—and continues to conduct research on new materials. Pioneering Work in the Field of Dental Ceramics In 1996, Dentaurum Ceramics introduced CARMEN®, one of the first synthetic leucite glass-ceramics. Three years later, Triceram® followed—a specialty ceramic for veneering titanium and zirconia. Over the years, the dental ceramics product line has been continuously expanded. The latest ceramic line, ceraMotion®, has been on the market since 2013 and is gaining increasing prominence. This synthetic glass-ceramic, made from high-purity raw materials, stands out for its flexibility: dental technicians benefit from a unified mass concept for various framework materials, as well as options for standard veneering or complex layering concepts. Thanks to a specially developed manufacturing process, ceraMotion® offers stable material properties. Production utilizes state-of-the-art technology and meets the highest European and global quality standards. With approximately 1,500 products, production can be flexibly adapted to individual customer requirements—from small to large packages for the global market. Latest milestones in the product line: Dentaurum was the first company worldwide to develop dentin in paste form—including ceraMotion® One Touch No Limits and Pink, the first 3D dentins. Another innovation was the ceraMotion® One Touch 2D and 3D ceramic pastes for the aesthetic finishing of monolithic restorations made of lithium disilicate and zirconia. The portfolio is constantly growing: In recent years, additions have included the zirconia discs ceraMotion® Z and ceraMotion® CADback, the first creative software for ceramic technicians. At the IDS, from Tuesday through Saturday at the Dentaurum booth D010/E019 in Hall 10.1, there will be various presentations and live demonstrations on ceraMotion® featuring Master Dental Technician Haristos Girinis, Dental Technician Stefan Bichler, Dental Technician Terry Whitty, Master Dental Technician Volker Wetzel, and Master Dental Technician Gabriele Vögele. 21.01.2025News about the Custom-Made prime4me® RETAIN3RA few years ago, Dentaurum launched the Dentaurum Digital Ordering Platform, a true highlight in its digital product portfolio: Since then, customers have been able to order customized products and services quickly and easily online. Professional quality management, validated manufacturing processes, and industry-standard machinery and procedures ensure high-quality products. The platform was unveiled for the first time at the last IDS in select European countries. Now, the design of the prime4me® brand has been revamped, and its availability has been expanded to all of Europe. New Look: Fresh, Bold, and Cheerful The prime4me® portfolio consists of the products Aligner, Model Impression, and RETAIN3R. As part of this expansion, prime4me® RETAIN3R has received a graphic update and now features fresh shades of blue and purple. The nude-pastel color palette exudes a wonderfully natural, free, and carefree vibe. The visual design, with its soft color transitions, reflects the retainer’s primary focus—namely, appealing to everyone who values excellent aesthetics.Precision in Every DimensionThe prime4me® RETAIN3R stands out thanks to its innovative 3D design, which can be adapted to the individual tooth structure—even in tight spaces. It offers greater accuracy than conventional 2D retainers, as it takes the vertical plane into account in addition to the sagittal and transverse planes. The precise fit ensures a comfortable lingual fit and reduces the bonding surfaces—for a barely noticeable wearing experience. Made from high-quality, durable Grade 5 titanium, the retainer is also ideal for patients who prefer nickel-free materials. State-of-the-art milling technology removes material without deforming or bending it. This passive manufacturing process is ideal for maintaining and stabilizing treatment results. The teeth’s natural mobility is nevertheless preserved. Intuitive Ordering Process Orders are placed directly via https://digital.dentaurum.de using an intraoral scan, model scan, or plaster model (the paid service “Digitize Plaster Model” is available only in Germany and Austria). The optimal 3D design is approved with just a few clicks, and the patient-specific prime4me® RETAIN3R is manufactured. After a quality check and cleaning, the product is shipped within a total of five business days. Delivery times depend on the destination country and can take up to six business days. Customers benefit from expert advice from trained CAD/CAM specialists and are guided through the entire online process. To enable even more patients worldwide to maintain a perfectly fitting smile after orthodontic treatment, the availability of the prime4me® RETAIN3R in additional countries will be expanded in the near future.Further information: DENTAURUM GmbH & Co.
