Sintering in a Microwave Oven - Parameters & Optimization
Published on
Sintering is a critical step in the manufacture of dental restorations made of zirconia. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our sintering processes, we have therefore tested various programs in the microwave furnace—with the goal of further optimizing the process in terms of cycle time and energy consumption.
Targeted Further Development of Sintering Processes
To identify suitable parameters, various programs were tested in the microwave oven and evaluated in terms of their efficiency and the quality of the results. The focus was on three aspects: the shortest possible processing time, low energy consumption, and reliable, aesthetically pleasing results.
Aesthetics comparable to standard sintering
In addition to process optimization, the focus was, of course, also on the quality of the sintering results. The program tested in the microwave oven achieved an aesthetic result comparable to that of standard sintering. This experiment thus demonstrates that high-quality aesthetic results can be achieved even with an optimized microwave sintering process.
