At 10:00 a.m. on April 26, 2024, the inauguration ceremony began at orangedental’s new Education Center in Biberach. The program, featuring high-profile speakers and presenters from the fields of dentistry, commerce, and industry, was varied and engaging. After a brief welcome by Stefan Kaltenbach, Prof. Dr. Christoph Benz, President of the German Dental Association, delivered the opening address via video, followed by Jochen Linneweh (President of the Federal Association of Dental Trade). Dr. Markus Heibach then conveyed greetings from the VDDI. This was followed by presentations on the latest developments in the field of radiology, ranging from MRI/Dental (Prof. Dr. Ralf Schultze) to digital workflow/IO-Scan (Dr. Ingo Baresel) and AI in dentistry (Prof. Dr. Falk Schwendicke). Josef Schweiger, M.Sc. in dental technology, impressed the audience with excellent results using the Perfit FS fully sintered zirconia with the EASY Mill4 in chairside applications. Prof. Dr. Nicole Arweiler reported on the latest findings in periodontology. Prof. Dr. Reinhard Hickel kicked off the afternoon with his summary of experiences regarding modern concepts in dental continuing education. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Becker reported on his successes in digital implant planning. Prof. Dr. Margit-Ann Geibel described mobile radiology in Germany, after which Dr. Vapula Haukongo presented his concept for this very same mobile dental radiology unit in a dental practice. Dr. Thomas Fischer presented practical Freecorder cases in which he no longer required any grinding. Dr. Peter Bongard presented key factors for full-mouth reconstructions, including the new method for determining occlusal relationships using the Cranioplan method. Master Dental Technician Vanik Kaufmann presented the most effective data management software for use between the dental practice and the laboratory. In between, there were interesting short presentations by orangedental employees on the company’s in-house products, particularly the Magnetflex camera for the opt-on® loupe glasses—set to be released at the IDS—as well as the world’s first head-mounted stereomicroscope with panoramic view. Also featured were the new Vatech devices: the S21, the first spiral CT; the Green X 21 with Facescan; and the new IO sensor based on photon counting. The stationary face scanner from Fussen, currently in the beta testing phase, rounded out the many innovations in the orangedental portfolio.To refuel, guests from dental practices, the dental trade, and local institutions enjoyed an extensive lunch buffet in a lively atmosphere. They were impressed by the new facilities, which feature mobile partitions that allow for interactive training sessions in seven rooms—ideal, for example, for hands-on circuit training. In the future, the new o|cademy Education Center will be used for events and workshops for dental practices as well as for continuing education for the sales and technical staff of specialty retail partners, complementing the many digital communication tools, such as the more than 45 webinars held since 2020. In the evening, the big orangedental party began in the marquee set up specifically for the occasion. After Stefan Kaltenbach opened the buffet, guests were able to enjoy the food and the ample selection of beverages. The all-female band Sax & Strings and the well-known band Papa’z Finest from Cologne provided great entertainment. As a highlight, 10 hostesses presented the orangedental products on a catwalk—some in person and others via corresponding images—to great applause.
