Roger Introduces AI-Based Documentation for Dental Practices
Published on
The new feature from the Berlin-based dental software provider reduces the workload for dentists at the treatment chair, cuts down on the time spent on documentation, and supports BEMA- and GOZ-compliant service recording—all without having to switch systems.
Berlin, July 1, 2026 – Roger, the digital software solution for dental practices, is expanding its product portfolio to include “AI Documentation.” This feature converts spoken language during treatment into structured, audit-ready clinical documentation and automatically assigns the services provided to the corresponding BEMA and GOZ billing codes. This allows practices to document directly at the treatment chair, without the need for simultaneous note-taking or subsequent data entry on a computer screen.
Documentation is one of the biggest time-sinks in day-to-day practice and, according to industry estimates, takes up several hours of dentists’ working time each week. At the same time, it is a legal requirement: Incomplete records can lead to fee reductions and reimbursement claims during efficiency audits. Against the backdrop of the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, this pressure is intensifying even further, as treatment and documentation often have to be handled simultaneously by the same team—frequently at the expense of completeness.
Roger’s AI documentation system comes into play exactly at this point. The dentist describes findings, medical history, and treatment in natural language; the system transcribes the content in real time, organizes it into the standard documentation sections, and suggests the corresponding billing codes. The practice team reviews the suggestion and approves it. The entries are then automatically transferred to the patient’s medical record, and services are automatically recorded. The result is consistent, complete entries, and the risk of overlooking services or recording them twice is significantly reduced.
Like all Roger products, this feature can be integrated into the practice’s existing IT environment and is compatible with virtually all common practice management systems. There is no need to switch practice software or change established workflows. Roger explicitly positions itself not as a replacement, but as an intelligent layer that complements existing systems and makes them more efficient.
“Documentation is mandatory, but it shouldn’t take up the time that rightfully belongs to the patient. With AI Documentation, we’re shifting this work from after-hours back to the treatment chair while ensuring that no service provided is overlooked,” says Victor Charlier, CEO of Roger. “For us, it’s crucial that clinical responsibility always remains with the practice team: The AI provides a suggestion, and a human gives the final approval.”
The protection of patient data is a top priority during processing. The data is processed in accordance with the GDPR and stored on servers in Germany. In accordance with professional regulations, the treating dentist retains ultimate clinical and legal responsibility.
“AI Documentation” will be available to all Roger customers starting July 1, 2026. Interested practices can find more information and request a no-obligation product demonstration at www.goroger.com.
