Aqualizers are prefabricated, temporary, self-adjusting TMD/occlusal splints designed for pain relief, diagnosis, and bite registration.
The Aqualizer is a cost-effective, prefabricated, temporary, or self-adjusting emergency splint. It can be used to aid in the differential diagnosis of TMD and occlusal problems, effectively distinguishing joint pain from muscle pain and “bite”/occlusal pain. The water, as it moves from one side to the other, balances the bite and simultaneously decompresses both temporomandibular joints. The Aqualizer can also be used as part of a system to obtain a physiologically balanced bite registration prior to taking impressions for dental appliances. If the Aqualizer succeeds in alleviating the pain, the appropriate occlusal treatment plan is determined and selected to meet the patient’s needs (splint, equilibration, restorative procedures, orthodontics, etc.).
